Football Geniuses

Before the 2004 NFL draft, in which the Redskins selected Miami safety Sean Taylor over his Hurricanes teammate Kellen Winslow, Jr., I expressed concern to my brothers (we're all 'Skins fans) that the two players shared the same very low score of 7 on their Wonderlic intelligence tests. The Wonderlic has a mean and standard deviation of about 21 and 7, respectively, which puts Taylor and Winslow in the bottom 2% of the population in either intelligence or recalcitrance. I had no idea how thoroughly I'd be proven right. Miami running back Frank Gore scored a 6 on his Wonderlic at this year's combine. What is it with these guys? Too much time in the Florida sun?
